NYSC develops software to tackle posting errors.

The Director-General of the National Youth
Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Nnamdi
Okore-Affia, said on Tuesday that the Corps
had developed a software, capable of
preventing mobilisation mistakes.
Okere-Affia said that the innovation would
identify mistakes at the point of entry of all
corps members’ data to tackle difficulties
experienced in the mobilisation exercise.
He made the disclosure during the NYSC
2013 Batch ‘C’ pre-mobilisation workshop
with theme: “Appraising NYSC Mobilisation
Strategies for a Better Service Delivery” in
Minna.
“The ICT Department of NYSC in collaboration
with the Mobilisation Department has
developed new data entry software that will
be used by all corps producing institutions
to collate data of prospective corps
members.
“This is as a result of our realisation that
most of the mistakes during mobilisation of
prospective corps members are at the point
of data entry.
“It is therefore, expected that this new
software will assist in identifying mistakes
at point of entry of any prospective corps
members data.”
Okorie-Affia said the new software would
not be put into use until the 2014 Batch ‘A’
mobilisation exercise to enable the corps
producing institutions to get acquainted
with the new software.
The director-general said the ICT content of
the mobilisation exercise had also been
upgraded to dictate procedural non-
compliance in the mobilisation programme
to ensure better service delivery.
The Niger Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu,
who was represented by the state’s
Commissioner for Youth, Mr Kabiru
Wushishi, pledged to sustain the support
given by the State Government to the corps
to promote national unity. (NAN)
